Study Spanish in the small town of Playa Tamarindo, one of Costa Rica's top destinations for surfing and nightlife. As a result, there are various restaurants, bars and nightclubs along the shore. However, the town is not only popular with surfers and party lovers as it forms part of the Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas de Guanacaste, one of the foremost nesting sites for leatherback turtles. Coupled with the fact that it is located in Central America's largest mangrove estuary, Estero de Tamarindo, this makes Playa Tamarindo a great location from which to enjoy some of Costa Rica's incredible nature and wildlife.
Outside of your Spanish classes, there are plenty of activities to enjoy in the town including scuba diving, sailing, surfing, hiking, horseback riding and fishing. Other highlights of the region which can be visited for a day trip include the underground caves of the Parque Nacional Barra Honda and the Rincón de la Vieja volcano.
