This ancient land of kings and caballeros has a fascinating history. From the oriental Moorish influence found in the country's architecture and music to the impressive palaces and churches from Spain's period as a colonial power, there is much to discover. Spain is also famous for its artists, with incredible works by Dalí, Picasso and Gaudí well worth a visit. 

The Spanish are known for their love of good food and wine, with each region having its only delicious specialties: paella from Valencia, seafood from Galicia, and a range of tapas all over the country. Of course, eating and drinking are focal points of Spain's famous fiestas and festivals that include the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, the Tomatina tomato throwing festival in Buñol and the Fallas in Valencia. 

Spanish is not the only language you will find in Spain, as there are also a number of regional dialects used, such as Catalan, Basque and Galician. However, locals also speak Spanish and this is the language taught in all of our partner schools. Pure Spanish is said to come from Salamanca, the home of the Academia Española.
